Ideas to Induce

Happy Thursday to you!

Do you have a long weekend with Friday off?  If not, you still get a magnif three days!  What are your plans?

Rob and I are going to do some landscaping and house projects if baby girl doesn’t arrive.  We can’t really go out of town or make plans since my due date is May 30.  I’m okay with that!  I would love to touch up paint on the house, stain the deck or put some window boxes up in the front.

Notice I said “if” she doesn’t arrive.  I am hoping she does since I have been doing anything I can to induce labor.

  • Walking/Power Walking
  • stretching
  • Lifting weights (Don’t be alarmed…not too heavy!)
  • Sex
  • Baths
  • Bribing Quinn with a car when she turns 16

I can’t even remember all the things I have tried short of yanking her out myself.  Mind you, I am not super uncomfortable, just getting kinda bored and restless.

Today, Rob and I went to the Y since we just got a family (awww family!) membership.  He pumped iron while I walked at 3.5 mph for 20 minutes then did some bicep/deltoid exercises with dumbells.  It felt so good!

couple workout

I felt like EVERYONE was staring at my ginormous belly!  Maybe they were just wondered what the heck I was doing with weights since it’s not everyday you see a 40 weeker curling.  Either way it felt amazing!

no excuses tank

Other than that, I was just crossing more tedious things off my to-do list.  Let me tell you, cleaning ceiling fans is super fun.  (yawn)  What else is there to do?!

Ok, anyway tomorrow I will be back at the Y gym so I will do a recap of my pregnancy workout and eats.

TTFN!

MIA: What I’ve Been Up To

I am so sorry for being MIA lately but I am really nesting.  I get so bored being home so I find projects to do each day along with making sure to walk and rest.  Here’s a little update on what I’ve been up to:

Reading- I finished 5 books last week.  That’s borderline embarassing.  My favorite ones were as follows:

HappyBaby

The Offical Lamaze Guide

Baby Wise

HappyBaby Official Lamaze Guide

Baby Wise

Crafting- Projects galore.  I have been painting, making hair bows, decorating Quinn’s room, making a crib mobile, etc.  I have to find things to do or I will go crazy!

nursery decor DIY

yarn covered letter
Spray painted frame from garage sale $5
Yarn covered letter from Hobby Lobby $6

Walking- I am still trying to walk Tazz every day as a way to be more active and just feel good.  I already do so much in a day but a little walk can be refreshing in the evening.

Sleeping-  I am sleeping pretty good at night and still manage to get some sort of nap in during the day.  I either need rest, try to waste time, or force myself to stock up now while I can!

Waiting- Every day feels like 100.  It might be because I am not working so I have all day to think about it rather than distract myself with IEP goals.  The sun is definitely making me feel better.  Winter days would be too dreary!

pregnancy swim

Eating- I can’t get enough fruit.  I don’t know if it’s because it is summer or because I am pregnant.  Either way, my meals are light and occuring often.

fruit cravings

I will be 39 weeks on Wednesday so I am PRAYING that Quinn arrives soon!

Any guesses on a date?

Has your appetite changed now that it’s warmer?

Nana Ice Cream + 37 Weeks

Well well… we meet again. :)

I am now 37 weeks pregnant and slooooowly closing in on the grand finale.  My Wednesday Dr. appt went well.  She said that Quinn is still head down and ordered me to get one final ultrasound next week.  I can’t wait to get another glimpse of my baby girl!

Belly Update

37 weeks

37 weeks pregnant

Sleep- I have had 3 or 4 nights of just a few hours of sleep due to itching (yea…that is back) and just being wide awake.  Again, I think my body is just trying to tell me, “Get used to it, babe.  You aren’t going to sleep for 18+ years.” It would be nice to sleep but since I am done with work, I just make sure I get a nap the next day if I feel I need it.

Cravings- I am definitely in the mood more for sweets so I have been obsessing over melon, kiwi and oranges.  I also made banana ice cream to try and LOVE IT!

healthy banana ice cream

  • 2 bananas
  • 2T peanut butter
  • almond milk (enough to get it to blend)
  • 1/2 t vanilla extract

Add to blender then freeze.  Easy peasy.  You could top it with choc chips, granola, almonds, coconut flakes, more fruit, etc.  There are tons of other flavor options and as I make more I will share.  I want to make sure they are legit before I recommend them and have you hate it.  Then you would never trust me when I say something is good!

Mood-  Anxious.  I am also a little emotional off and on.  I think just the thought of “Will it be today or do I have to say that for four more weeks?” is getting to me.  I want Quinn to come when it’s the right time, but can’t I pick when that is?!  I think my hormones are also fluctuating to start preparing my body for the huge hormonal changes of labor.

Comfort-  I have had a few days that I feel like I got hit by a semi/train/demo ball/Rosie O’Donnel and it hurts.  My legs were achy and my back was feeling strained.  It was also after a few nights of not sleeping, but on the other days, I am still feeling great and tackling tons of projects.  I have to remind myself to sit down and rest BEFORE I feel the need.  I still don’t know if I have had any Braxton Hicks contractions or early labor contractions…everyone says, “You’ll know.”  So I am guessing I haven’t had any yet?!

teal nursery

I am so ready for her to come since I finished up her room this week!  I love it and it turned out better than I expected.  I refinished the hutch and side table pictured, plus made her bed skirt and crib bumper.  I also refinished a dresser and built a changing table in one closet.  I will do a full nursery update with details later.

I am going to scoot for now to finish watching the Heat and Bulls play and enjoy some QT with my man!

Enjoy your weekend!

Are you irritated with how rude Chicago is being during this game?!

Did you experience any of these symptoms during pregnancy?

Packing & Waiting

Is today the day?

Will I go to the hospital tonight?

When will Quinn be here?

I am getting so anxious and each day feels like foooooreverrrrr.  I am trying to get more things done just to occupy my mind and be more prepared.

I spent some time yesterday packing my hospital bag as well as Quinn’s bag.  I really wasn’t sure what to pack since so many moms say you won’t end up using most of the stuff you pack.  I figure, it’s better to have it in the car and not need it than to be irritated without it.

Here is what I ended up with:

What to pack for delivery

Comfy clothes: yoga pants/leggins, baggy tank tops, sweatshirt, flip flops.  I am obviously not dressing to impress!

I think I might also pack P90X Results and Recovery Drink to sip on during labor or after delivery.

baby bag

I might change a few things in Quinn’s bag after asking the Doc more of what I need/don’t need on Wednesday.  I will keep you posted!

I am also trying to get a good mix of rest/exercise and healthy eats.  Here is a sample of my day:

Breakfast: whole grain english muffin + Morning Star sausage patty + apple

Snack: muskmelon + almonds

Lunch: cottage cheese + orange + Bravo! leftovers (whole grain spaghetti)

Snack: more melon…I can’t get enough

Dinner: HUGE veggie salad with black bean burger patty + sunflower seeds

Dessert: foot rub + mocha chip ice cream in waffle cone

Look how big my belly looked yesterday…  Yikes!  That is a 9 month preg momma for sure!

I am really loving being home everyday so I can focus on myself and enjoy this exciting time :)

Are you loving this weather or what?!

Summer Sneak Peek!

Happy Uno de Mayo!  If we can call it that.  It’s my spanglish.

We had terrific weather here and although I was sweating a bit I could not muster up one complaint!  My body has been craving sunshine.  Here is how my day looked:

cherry blossom

Breakfast was oats and of course I took it outside and enjoyed the morning sun.  Then I headed to my 36 week OBGYN appt- Baby is still head down and seems to be a bit lower!  I lost 3lbs since my last appt so weight currently is 142.2

I did a few things from my to-do list and decided to take a nap while Rob got ready for work.  Umm… when I say nap I mean pass out like a rock.  Apparently I needed that!

I ran to the produce store and stopped to get my free bday coffee from Starbucks.  I did the iced decaf hazlenut macchiato with skim milk and no drizzle.  (You could save on calories and get sugar free but I hate fake sweeteners.)

decaf hazlenut macchiato

I took my coffee and comfy chair into the sun, grabbed a book, and soaked it in.  Of course there are a ton of things I could be getting done, but once Quinn is here, I will barely have time to relax and enjoy some down time.  I got a little tan in the 40 minutes I was outside.

sunshine

I decided to come in because I was getting super sweaty.  It felt so good, but I do not want to be 8 or 9 months pregnant in the summer EVER!  I couldn’t imagine…  After I came in, I cooled off with some fruit water I made earlier in the day.  So refreshing and healthy!

how to make fruit water

I had enough energy to finish up laundry, write some shower thank-you cards, organize Quinn’s room, pack a baby hospital bag, make dinner, and make ice cream (I will share recipe later this week.)  I also took Tazz for a walk which he loved.  His tail is obnoxious.

Tazz

I meant to do a very light TurboFire today but honestly walking outside was just what I needed.  I will save it for a more rainy/cloudy day.

So there you have it!  It’s been a busy day with lots of walking around, but I made sure to stop and smell the roses soak up the rays, too!

I hope you had nice weather and were able to enjoy it!  If not, I am so SORRY!  Have a great Thursday :)

April Showers Bring May…Babies

Yes.  I certainly hope the showers bring a May baby!  I am anxiously awaiting her arrival since I have a house full of baby thingys.

My first shower was Friday night at Cinco De Mayo (thrown by my magnificent coworkers.)

baby shower

We always have such a blast and I am going to miss everyone so much.  I will do a separate post about leaving CK, but sadly, this was my last day of work for who knows how long.

We played ridiculous baby games like “feed the baby.”

The girls also dedicated “baby” got back to me.  Oh gee…

I got some adorable clothes and my baby girl is certainly spoiled already!

shower gifts

Saturday morning was my family shower hosted by my future mother in law.  (No, Rob and I are not engaged…yet.)  Again, I was blessed by more people who love me and my daughter.  It was so fun to open everything!

I was so glad my Step Mom and Grandma were able to make the trip here!

After my shower, we headed back to the house to get ready for Rob’s diaper party.  HOLY LMAO.  His friends were so entertaining even though I couldn’t partake in the drinking festivities.  This is the clean version from the morning after.

They even wrote some funny one liners on diapers to keep us laughing when we change stinkies at 3 a.m.

Sunday, Rob and I slept in, cleaned the house and put together some baby things.  It was great to have some QT together… speaking of QT… I should reveal her name!

Today I finished almost all of the baby shopping!  I only need to get the carseat and swing but am waiting for a better deal of course.

Ah.  It was such a great weekend and I look forward to getting every detail finished in the next few weeks!  Who knows when she will decide mommy’s belly isn’t so great anymore.

I also can’t wait to blog more!  I have a list started of things to share. :)

Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so special!

Blessed Birthday

Hi my loves!

I can’t believe how fast time is flying and I am sorry that I can’t keep up with blogging.  Tomorrow is my last day at work (more on that later) so I will be blogging more often until baby girl comes.  Then I will be MIA here and there but try my best to stay on track!

So this Monday was my 26th birthday and I had a great week because of all the people in my life that make it so special.  Rob spoiled me with patio furniture, my mom came to visit and the girls at work suprised me with treats, cards, and flowers.  Not to mention all the messages I received from people who were thinking of me on my special day.

While my mom was here, we made a trip to the mall.  SHOPPING SPREE!  You know you are going to be a mom when you see so many cute clothes that you want yet you spend over $100 on nursing bras.  I should mention that I bought two sleep nursing bras and good lord…I will never wear a normal bra again.  These are amazing!

I did end up picking up a few things as a bday gift.

jersey old navy dress

coral sequin sperry

  • sunglasses from Aldo
  • Buckle:  Sperry knockoffs, shower dress
  • Old Navy freebies: cotton dress, four shirts for Rob, cardigan, cotton top

The rest of the time my mom was here was spent visiting by a backyard bonfire and relaxing.  We enjoyed every minute of it!  I also finally hung up the chalkboard I made with $5 green “oops!” paint and an old frame I found in the attic.  Sometime soon I will be hanging a shelf above to finish my coffee bar.

Before leaving, Mom just had to get another picture of my fat belly and she waited until I was in PJs and looking like a slob.  My sincere apologies…

35 weeks pregnant

So anyway… it was a great birthday and I keep stopping to realize how great my life is and how I should be so thankful for the people I have in it as well as the way things are going.  I couldn’t be happier!

Tomorrow is my work shower and farewell party so I will recap those festivities ASAP!

Have a great night!
